Read: Genesis 12:1-3
Centering Verse: I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. (Genesis 12:3)
- Have you ever had to leave a comfortable situation and go out into the “unknown”? What was this like?
- What promises has God fulfilled in your life?
- What does it mean to blessed? How have you experienced blessing recently?
This October, I planted my tulips and hyacinths in several tubs around the front yard. These hardy little bulbs will sit under the dirt during the cold (and probably rainy) winter. They are alpine plants and are used to such weather. In addition, there is a thin layer of rocks spread out over them. When spring comes, they will wake from their frigid slumber, break through the rocks, and bring beautiful flowers to bloom. Then, they will repeat the process for the next year. Sometimes it takes a long time to see what you plan come to fruition. God began building the covenant community out of which Christ would come during the lifetime of Abraham. That’s over 2,000 years of waiting. Now, here we are 2,000 plus years after the coming of Christ waiting for him to come again. As we wait, God builds the Kingdom of God on earth. Good things come to those who wait, especially those who wait on God.
Closing Prayer: LORD God, may we find our place within your promises.
